Upcoming Movie Releases October 2012

First of all, I apologise. My intension was to create one of these each month and I let that lapse. I hope I can keep this up this time.

What I’ve Missed

OK, now, if I had been posting, I would have been recommending Perks of Being a Wallflower, Paranorman and Hope Springs. Now, these films are still on in a lot of locations, please please please, go and see them! They are definitely worth watching and I think some of the best films this year.

Hotel Transylvania – October 12th 2012

Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, goes into overprotective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count's teen-aged daughter.

After seeing the spectacular Paranorman, I am looking forward to this, and it has a lot to live up to. The premise sounds good, and I am a big kid at heart, so I am confident this will be a good one to watch.

Starring: Adam Sandler, Molly Shannon, Andy Samberg, David Spade, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi, Fran Drescher, CeeLo Green, Selena Gomez and Rob Riggle

Ruby Sparks – October 12th 2012

A novelist struggling with writer's block finds romance in a most unusual way: by creating a female character he thinks will love him, then willing her into existence.

Now, this sounds like a strange story, but the trailer I like and it has a decent cast. I don't know much else about the film other than this so we shall see if it turns out to be good or not.

Starring: Antonio Banderas, Paul Dano, Annette Bening, Steve Coogan, Elliott Gould and Deborah Ann Woll

Frankenweenie - October 17th 2012

When young Victor's pet dog Sparky (who stars in Victor's home-made monster movies) is hit by a car, Victor decides to bring him back to life the only way he knows how. But when the bolt-necked "monster" wreaks havoc and terror in the hearts of Victor's neighbors, he has to convince them (and his parents) that despite his appearance, Sparky's still the good loyal friend he's always been.

Apparently Tim Burton was fired from Disney when he originally brought this idea to them in the 80's (I am remembering something I read here - don't sue me if it's wrong :) ). They didn't like the idea of a black and white monster movie for kids.

Starring: Catherine O'Hara, Winona Ryder, Martin Landau, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron and Christopher Lee

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted - October 19th 2012

Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo join a traveling circus in an effort to get back home to New York.

I have only just seen the first film, thanks to certain people seeing it without me. I hope to see the second before this comes out. It looks like a bit of silly fun to enjoy.

Starring: Frances McDormand, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Cedric the Entertainer, Sacha Baron Cohen, Bryan Cranston, Jessica Chastain, Martin Short and Vinnie Jones

Skyfall - October 26th 2012

Bond's loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Bond, James Bond, who doesn't know him! This is a must see film, and I must see it on opening night! Along with Matthew, Antony and Jean. I love Bond films and I am loving the 007 Movie Channel on Sky at the moment. Although I wish they would just show them in order from end to end, that would be great!

Starring: Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Helen McCrory, Albert Finney, Craig Izzard and Rory Kinnear

That's all for now folks, hope you have a good month at the Cinema. I would normally end this with a film I am looking forward to for November, but I can't see one that really jumps out. Looks like November will be a slow film month!
